Lionel Auvergne was born in 1952 in Nice.
In 1968, he joined the School of Fine Arts of Reims, then to the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1971 and received his diploma in sculpture.
However his training will be primarily in contact with works in major Parisian and European museums.
